We're overly honest
We would rather talk you out of a bad project than take the work. You should be making smart decisions about your technology, and that sometimes means us saying the answer is cheaper, smaller, or somebody else.
Services
Six things. If a project isn't one of them, we'll say so and point you somewhere better — that is usually the most useful thing we can do in a first call.
Software built around how your business already works, rather than the other way round. It captures your data, runs your process, connects to the systems you already pay for, and reports on all of it.
Everything runs in a browser — nothing to install, nothing to update on anyone's machine, and it works from the office, from home, or from a phone in the field.
Software is never finished. Most of our clients have been with us ten years or more — one for over twenty-five — because launch day is where the relationship starts, not where the project ends.
We patch it, extend it as the business changes, and answer the phone when something matters. You are not filing a ticket into a queue; you are calling the people who wrote the code.
PostgreSQL and SQL Server. Getting years of records out of spreadsheets and paper folders and into something that keeps them safe, searchable and shareable — without losing a row on the way.
This is where the accounting background earns its keep. Every migration we run gets reconciled: control totals before, control totals after, and an explanation for any difference. If we can't tell you the numbers match, we don't call it done.
Your application runs on Microsoft Azure or Amazon Web Services, set up and monitored by the same people who built it. Backups, certificates, patching and uptime stop being something you have to think about.
When something breaks at 6am, there is no argument about whether it's the hosting company's problem or the developer's. It's ours.
Most small organisations have one: an application nobody wants to touch, running on something well past its retirement, holding twenty years of history that cannot be lost. The people who built it are long gone.
We move those onto current technology — carefully, in stages, with the old system still running until the new one has earned the switch. It is the work we most enjoy, and the reason several of our clients first called us.
Single sign-on so people use the account they already have, roles so they see only what they should, and the unglamorous discipline that keeps your customers' information where it belongs.
Several of the systems we run hold sensitive personal data. That shapes how we build everything else.
What makes us different
When you hire us, you work with the people doing the work. There is no account manager between you and the person writing the code.
We would rather talk you out of a bad project than take the work. You should be making smart decisions about your technology, and that sometimes means us saying the answer is cheaper, smaller, or somebody else.
Our engagements are measured in decades, not deliverables. That changes how we build: we are the ones who will still be maintaining this in ten years, so we build it to be maintained.
Our founder is a CPA who started out auditing. Every system we build has control totals and a way to answer one question: how do you know it's right?
Proven tools
Established, well-supported technology with a long road ahead of it — so that another developer could pick your system up if they ever had to.
Microsoft's application platform. Fast, strongly typed, and supported for years to come.
Whichever fits the job and your existing estate. Both are proven at far larger scale than a small business will ever need.
Enterprise-grade infrastructure at small-business prices, managed by us.
Sign in with the account you already have, with the security controls your organisation already runs.
That's normal, and it's what the first conversation is for. Tell us what's slowing the business down and we'll tell you honestly what would actually help.
